Engineered for solid fixation

Cranial LOOP (L) is the ideal solution for fixing craniotomies through the osteotomy line. Our engineers have developed a unique locking system for Cranial LOOP (L), which guarantees a strong and solid fixation of all kinds of craniotomies.

No additional instruments are required for Cranial LOOP (L) implantation. Its unique self-cutting feature, which is a characteristic of all the Cranial LOOP family members, facilitates the removal of its non-implantable parts.

Its fast and easy "pull-and-tighten" method of implantation allows neurosurgeons to completely fix the bone flap in less than a minute, in addition to giving them total control of the achieved fixation.

Cranial LOOP (L) three basic implantation steps

CT / MRI Artifact-free

Cranial LOOP (L) is totally made of PEEK-OPTIMA®. This makes it completely artifact-free in the multiple medical imaging systems, such as X-rays, CT scanning and MRI.

High Strength and Safety

The thorough design process of Cranial LOOP (L) guarantees that it provides the same fixation strength as equivalent metallic non-instrument cranial fixation systems.

Furthermore, Cranial LOOP shows excellent behaviour at impact, thanks to its inherent elasticity and flexibility.

The use of at least one device per side of the craniotomy, placed at regular distances, is recommended to obtain a perfect fixation.

3D Adaptation

Cranial LOOP (L) guarantees the presence of the minimal profile possible in the implantation area. The use of PEEK-OPTIMA® ensures the perfect adaptation of Cranial LOOP (L) to both the epicranial and the epidural surfaces of the skull.

Product combination

All members of the Cranial LOOP family can be used either in combination or stand-alone. Thus, neurosurgeons can combine them in the way that best fits each specific craniotomy.

Clinical and Functional Studies

The Cranial LOOP family is backed by the following scientific publications:

Cranial-LOOP Poster EANS2014

Poster presented at the 2014 Annual Meeting of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS 2014, Prague).

Describes the results obtained in a randomized clinical trial: neurosurgeons are highly satisfied (approval above 80%) with Cranial LOOP. Click for more details.

Article in Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery

Van Loock et al. Cranial bone flap fixation using a new device (Cranial LoopTM). Minim Invasive Neurosurg. 2011; 54 (3): 119-24

Describes the outcome of 35 consecutive patients in which Cranial LOOP was implanted.

Poster for the European Society for Biomaterials

Poster presented at the 24th Meeting of the European Society for Biomaterials (Dublin, 2011).

Describes the key characteristics that PEEK-OPTIMA® gives to the Cranial LOOP family: excellent mechanical behaviour, total lack of artifacts in medical imaging and optimal performance in radiotherapy.

Medical Design Excellence Awards winner

Medical Design Excellence Awards Winner Cranial LOOP was awarded the Gold recognition at the 2011 edition of the MDEA.
