Clamp or Plate? Both!

Cranial LOOP (XL) goes one step further in the field of cranial fixation devices. The new size of the Cranial LOOP family has been specifically developed to fit in craniotomy burr holes.

This makes Cranial LOOP (XL) an all-in-one cranial fixation device and burr-hole cover, thus offering neurosurgeons the benefits of both.

Cranial LOOP (XL), like its predecessors, is implanted with no extra instruments. As in the previous devices of the family, the non-implantable parts are easily removed thanks to its self-cutting feature.

The fast and easy implantation of Cranial LOOP (XL) is guaranteed on the basis of its unique "pull-and-tighten" implantation method, which gives neurosurgeons total control of the fixation.

CT / MRI Artifact-free

Cranial LOOP (XL) is totally artifact-free in different medical imaging systems, such as X-rays, CT scanning and MRI. This exclusive feature is achieved thanks to its 100% PEEK-OPTIMA® composition.

High Strength and Safety

NEOS' engineers have developed the perfect solution for neurosurgeons that require an additional device for strong cranial fixation. Cranial LOOP (XL) not only guarantees this solid fixation, but it also works as a burr hole cover, which neurosurgeons and patients alike demand.

Thus, Cranial LOOP (XL) combines the safety of microplates and screws concerning brain tissue damage with the ease of use and strength of clamping systems.

Minimal Profile

Cranial LOOP (XL) perfectly adapts to the shape and curvature of the skull. This guarantees the minmal profile possible in the burr hole area, both in the epicranial and epidural regions.

Product combination

All members of the Cranial LOOP family can be used either in combination or stand-alone. Thus, neurosurgeons can combine them in the way that best fits each specific craniotomy.

Clinical and Functional Studies

The Cranial LOOP family is backed by the following scientific publications:

Cranial-LOOP Poster EANS2014

Poster presented at the 2014 Annual Meeting of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS 2014, Prague).

Describes the results obtained in a randomized clinical trial: neurosurgeons are highly satisfied (approval above 80%) with Cranial LOOP. Click for more details.

Article in Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery

Van Loock et al. Cranial bone flap fixation using a new device (Cranial LoopTM). Minim Invasive Neurosurg. 2011; 54 (3): 119-24

Describes the outcome of 35 consecutive patients in which Cranial LOOP was implanted.

Poster for the European Society for Biomaterials

Poster presented at the 24th Meeting of the European Society for Biomaterials (Dublin, 2011).

Describes the key characteristics that PEEK-OPTIMA® gives to the Cranial LOOP family: excellent mechanical behaviour, total lack of artifacts in medical imaging and optimal performance in radiotherapy.

Medical Design Excellence Awards winner

Medical Design Excellence Awards Winner Cranial LOOP was awarded the Gold recognition at the 2011 edition of the MDEA.
