The DISC care™ is the cornerstone of NEOS’ Strategic Plan.

The Surgical Need

Lumbar Disc Herniation occurs when the intervertebral disc ruptures and bulges out creating a hernia. The hernia can press against nerves and muscles in the lumbar area creating nerve and leg pain. The current gold standard treatment is performing a discectomy: a surgery to remove the hernia. The surgeon faces a dilemma: to decide whether to perform an aggressive discectomy, compromising disc height and biomechanics; or a limited discectomy that causes high re-herniation rates.

The Solution

The DISC care™ provides a permanent solution, a barrier to re-herniation which is expandable, is securely fixed to the vertebra, has minimum impact on current surgical procedures, and respects natural spine movements. This is achieved through the combination of expertise in implant design, textiles, and advanced manufacturing techniques.

The DISC care™ will offer a cost-effective, permanent solution to low back pain.
